Nuestra Señora de Belen, a statue in Belen, a small town in the Provincia de Catamarca, Argentina. Also known as the Virgen de Belen (virgin of Belen) it's built on a hill overlooking the town (Cerro de la Virgen). Every January 6 a pilgrimage procession walks up to the statue as part of a local festival. This is a rural area with a slow pace of life, with minimal development for tourism. The town promotes itself as the Poncho Capital of Argentina, and there are many excellent workshops in the town and many ponchos for sale in the shops (some of them quite expensive).
